GeneralWhat are the facilities at Sugar Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive like?
The Sugar Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive is the only true all-inclusive resort on St. Thomas. Our property sits on a hillside and spans 31 acres overlooking the Caribbean. We are a full-service resort with a broad array of amenities, including 294 guestrooms and suites.
All-inclusive rates cover: room, meals, beverages (well liquor, wine by the glass, and beer), recreation, entertainment, non-motorized water sports, Fitness Center, tax and gratuities--all for one low price. Airfare and airport transfers are not included. Restaurant surcharges and restrictions may apply.
Most activities are covered in the price of your stay. We have a wonderful secluded beach where our Water Sports Center has ocean kayaks, Sunfish sailboats and snorkel equipment for you to use. Our state-of-the-art Fitness Center has cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights. There are also a variety of fitness classes available daily. We have lighted courts for tennis and basketball.
For a small up-charge we also offer: scuba diving, Jet Skis, parasailing, and miniature golfing.
Typically, our US Virgin Island luxury resort's best rates are available between Memorial Day and Thanksgiving. High Season, with somewhat higher rates, runs from Christmas through Easter.
You can see St. John and the British Virgin Islands from our resort. The island is a mere 15-minute ferry ride away. You can catch the ferry from the Red Hook Ferry Terminal located just 10 minutes from the property.
We take every step to be environmentally conscious. The hotel is completely self-contained and has its own power, desalinization, and water-treatment plants. And we recycle for irrigation. Guests are given simple options to help us be even more earth friendly. Finally, we are quite proud to be an Iguana Breeding Sanctuary and guests can watch daily feedings.
Services and PoliciesWhat is the dress code at the resort?
Tasteful attire is encouraged. Beachwear for the pool and beach is acceptable.
Shorts, t-shirts, jeans, sundresses and similar apparel are recommended and are suitable daytime attire anywhere on the resort. Bathing suit cover-ups and shoes are required in all restaurants and public areas.
Polo shirts, button-down collared shirts, long or short dresses, slacks, sundresses, skirts, evening sandals or similar apparel is recommended. Jackets are optional. No swim shorts, bathing suits, denim, t-shirts, sneakers, or flip flops.
A 15% service charge is included in your Virgin Islands all-inclusive resort plan. Additional tips are at your discretion for exceptional service.
Spa treatments are priced a la carte but also include access to spa facilities such as the sauna and steam room. For those guests who merely wish to use the steam room or sauna, day passes are available at very reasonable prices. Special spa packages are a great way to get the best value. There is no charge to work out in the Fitness Center that's located in our spa.
At Sugar Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive, we have our popular Kids Klub. Designed for 4-12 year olds, our Kids Klub has supervised children's entertainment programs, iguana feeding, t-shirt painting, treasure hunts, and more. Available from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Kids Klub also shows family movies in the evenings.

Visitor InformationAre passports needed?
Passports are not needed for U.S. citizens, who can enter or exit with a valid driver's license and birth certificate. However, for a day trip to the British Virgin Islands, a passport is required. We strongly encourage you to bring your passport with you as it dramatically expedites the departure process.
At the Sugar Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive, we enjoy year-round average temperatures of high 80s during daylight hours and low 70s at night. Jealous? Come experience it yourself.
As a U.S. territory, we speak English, conduct exchange based on U.S. dollars, and operate on good old 120 volts.
Yes—it's true! There are no departure taxes. All retail purchases are tax-free. Even banquet/catering group functions are tax-free. When returning home, U.S. Customs allows each person a $1,600 tax-free exemption.
Many providers (including AT&T) offer service in the islands. Be sure to check with your provider for details.
In the Virgin Islands, 18 is considered an adult. For liquor consumption, however, we require one adult (min. 21 years of age) in a room.
TransportationAre there direct flights to Sugar Bay Resort & Spa - All-Inclusive on St. Thomas (STT)?
Yes, there is currently direct service from many major US cities and most US airlines.
We love the short, 8-mile, 30-minute, breathtaking scenic drive to the northeastern picturesque side of the island. We hope you enjoy the ride!
Reliable taxi service is always an option on St. Thomas. Car rental is available at the airport, or you may rent from Avis at the front desk in our Lobby. Remember, we drive on the left hand side of the road here. For more information on airports and distance to the hotel, be sure to check the Map & Directions section of our site.
The hotel does not provide shuttle service from airport to hotel or hotel to airport. We highly recommend that you rent a car but taxi services are always available throughout the island. Guests should look only for those taxis that carry a dome light and the letters TP on their license plate. Other taxis are not officially licensed by the US Virgin Islands taxi commission. A hotel bellman can arrange for a taxi at any time.

Each US visitor, including children, can return with $1200.00 worth of duty-free imports from the US Virgin Islands. US residents over 21 can bring back 4 liters of liquor duty-free and an extra liter if one of the bottles is produced in the Virgin Islands. Each person is allowed to bring 5 cartons of cigarettes back to the U.S. All baggage of travelers flying from the US Virgin Islands are subject to inspection by US Customs. The water in St. Thomas is very safe to drink.
Cyril E. King Airport located in Charlotte Amalie is the only airport in St. Thomas. The airline airport code is STT.
Ferries are available to the British Virgin Islands (less than 30 minutes away) from Red Hook, which is just 2 miles from the Sugar Bay Resort & Spa, and from downtown Charlotte Amalie. Guests can also visit St. Croix, the largest of the three primary US Virgin Islands—a 20 minute sea plane ride—or by ferry (approximately 1.5 hours), and St. John is just a quick 20 minute ferry ride from Red Hook.
